1: Comment Analytics Page Overview
The Comment Analytics page offers detailed breakdowns of sentiments and prevalent themes found within the verbatim responses to open-ended questions. You can expand themes to view further distribution details of theme focus areas, and clicking on any theme allows you to view the associated comments.
The Comment Analytics Page contains the following:
Number of Responses and Sentiment Percentages.
Top Topics Widget.
Topic Hierarchy Widget.
Topic Explorer Widget.
2: Selecting Items to View
By default, the Comment Analytics page displays comments for all open-ended survey items. You can use the "Select Open Item" drop-down menu to narrow results to a specific item.
3: Number of Responses and Sentiment Percentages
At the top of the page, you will see the number of responses based on your selection above, as well as the percentage of comments in each sentiment category.
To access verbatim comments filtered by sentiment, click the View comments > button located on the right side.
The sentiment of the comments are color-coded throughout the page as follows:
Green for Positive.
Yellow for Neutral.
Red for Negative.
4: Top Topics Widgets
Below the number of responses and sentiment percentages, you'll find widgets highlighting the following, irrespective of sentiment:
Top Positive Topics: Most common positive themes.
Top Negative Topics: Most common negative themes.

Top Topics: Overall frequent themes. The count or number of comments within each theme are also visually represented.
Note: The topics and number of comments within each theme are also displayed.
5: Topic Hierarchy Widget
5.1: About the Topic Hierarchy Widget
The Topic Hierarchy widget displays the topics in a Treemap diagram. The box size indicates the frequency with which the topic is found in open-ended comments. Larger boxes indicate more frequent topics and the color of the box indicates the average sentiment of the topic.
5.2: Navigating the Topic Hierarchy Widget
To view the sub-categories, left click the top hierarchy level. In the images below, selecting the "Workplace" category updates the widget view to "Drilldown: Workplace", revealing the sub-categories within the Workplace topic.
6: Topic Explorer Widget
6.1: About the Topic Explorer Widget
The Topic Explorer widget lists the following:
Topics.
Percent of total responses assigned to each topic.
Number of responses assigned to each topic.
Percentage of positive, neutral, and negative comments in the topic.
6.2: Navigating the Topic Explorer Widget
6.2.1: Revealing Sub-categories
Select the arrow next to a topic to view the sub-categories areas within the topic.
6.2.2: Exploring Comments
Click on the Theme or Focus to view the comments included in that specific Theme or Focus. This takes you to the same report format you will see in the Comments subtab.
Note: Some comments may be assigned to multiple themes.
6.3: Exporting the Topic Explorer Widget to Excel
You can export the Topic Explorer Widget to Excel format. To do this, click the download button located in the top-right corner of the widget.
